Ross specialises in environmental and low carbon projects, particularly in the renewables sector. He is listed as a Tier 1 UK advisor by legal directories in these areas. He has spent over 20 years advising businesses on energy projects, electricity regulation, commercial contracts and environmental matters.

Ross has led teams advising on all types of renewable energy technology including solar, wind (on and offshore), biomass, biofuels, anaerobic digestion, waste to energy, wave and tidal energy, geothermal and hydro as well as conventional power.

His environmental practice covers all aspects of UK and EU environmental regulation with a focus on contaminated land and water, defending prosecutions, decommissioning industrial plant, waste, REACH and producer responsibility legislation.

Ross sits on various influential renewables industry groups, is a past Council Member of the UK Environmental Law Association and previously served on the Government's Innovation and Growth team for the Environmental Goods and Services Sector.

  • Advising a number of private and public sector clients including Marks and Spencer on implementing innovative renewable energy supply and trading contracts.
  • Advising on the Eden Project's deep geothermal scheme and Zenobes’s battery storage projects.
  • Advising Wave Hub, EMEC, MeyGen, Minesto and others on wave and tidal schemes.
  • Advising on the decommissioning of a number of major industrial and power station sites including Rugeley, Cottam, Fawley and Shotton.
  • Advising Bristol City Council on its ambitious City Leap project – a project designed to hit Net Zero targets for the city as a whole.
